Nickelodeon’s ‘Crush Night’ Featuring David Archuleta is Weekend’s Biggest Kid, Tween Event; New iCarly Tops Broadcast, Cable TV for Week

(iCarly “iRocked the Vote”, featuring teen “Idol” David Archuleta, was TV’s number-one show for the week (2/2/09-2/8/09) with kids and cable’s top program with tweens. — It drew 5.2 million total viewers)

Nickelodeon’s Saturday night premieres of iCarly and True Jackson — part of Nickelodeon’s “Crush Night” TEENick programming block — scored as the weekend’s biggest event for kids and tweens. The iCarly premiere telecast (8-8:30 p.m.) placed atop all of television with kids and cable with tweens for the week of Feb. 2, cementing the show’s position as TV’s number-one program with kids 6-11 for six consecutive weeks.

Saturday night’s iCarly and True Jackson, VP episodes (8-9 p.m.) averaged a 9.0/1.9 million K6-11 and a 7.6/1.6 million T9-14. Year-to-date, the two shows are Saturday night’s number-one and number-two programs on all of television with these demos.

The “Crush Night” programming block (Feb. 7, 8-9:30 p.m.) — which also featured a new episode of The Naked Brothers Band — posted double-digit gains overall, and averaged a 7.6/1.6 million K6-11 (+46); a 6.1/1.3 million T9-14 (+39%); and a 6.5/2.3 million K2-11 (+55%).

A Monday with David Archuleta

I never knew since the beginning of the day that a personality by the name of David Archuleta was coming to the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC). It was actually my day off from work and my roommate was the one who informed me that he was actually in the center and eating his dinner at Hale Aloha. He even described to me how he looks like. Haha.. he is actually shorter than I am and a lot thinner than the image we see on tv.

I am not really a diehard fun of him but I like the kind of songs that he sings and in fact, we go to the same church. The melodies and lyrics of his pieces are just simply full of emotions and truth. I don’t know if he is the one writing his songs because I notice a touch of dogma in it.

David is really popular that even old people knows him. A lot of the customers and even employees took pictures with him. Good thing there was no security or else everyone wouldn’t have the opportunity to get near. I actually was able to have a picture with him. Take a look! Click here.

HAWAII

Aloha! I’m here in sunny Hawaii, and it’s so nice here. I sang at the Pro Bowl yesterday, and that was way cool. Enrique Iglesias and Ciara sang during the halftime, and that was fun to watch because we got to watch from the field. I didn’t get a chance to talk to Ciara, but Enrique was a cool guy.

He’s tall though! I didn’t realize how tall he was. He’s 6 ft. 2 in. haha. But anyway, the day before the Pro Bowl performance I sang at Ohana Day where people can watch the players practice. I sang A Little Too Not Over You, and it went well.

Today we’re going to try and look around the island and be tourists haha. It’s so beautiful here, and I forgot how much I miss hot humid weather. It’s been a long time since I haven’t worn a scarf and jacket, because even last year during spring and summer we were always inside cold studios or arenas.

Oh you know what’s funny is while I was in the LAX airport for my layover, I ran into Cook and his gang. We were in the same gate area haha. Only he was headed to Florida, and I was leaving Florida.

So before we went to Hawaii, I was in Florida doing promo.

What was shocking is how cold it was there! I didn’t think I’d have to wear a jacket and scarf there, but it felt like Utah weather at some points. It was really fun traveling around though, and I got to see my family when we were in Central Florida. I also got to visit a Children’s Hospital in Daytona Beach, that they called Speediatrics haha.

It was really neat. But I’ll be heading back to Florida after Hawaii for the Disney thing this week, so I’m excited! I’ve been trying to not adjust to Hawaiian time, because I’m already in the Florida time zone mode lol. But I can’t wait for the Disney thing!

This Saturday they showed the iCarly episode on Nickelodeon, so for those of you who watched it I hope you had fun! I had so much fun hanging with Miranda. Don’t forget to watch this weekend too! I’ll be performing A Little Too Not Over You this Saturday on Nickelodeon, so fun stuff. haha.

All right, so before I close here, I just wanted to talk about the Grammy Awards! They were on the same day as the Pro Bowl, so I was keeping a little too busy to be able to watch it. But I had friends that were keeping me updated on what was going on haha.

First off, I’d just like to congratulate all the winners and their successes. I was so excited to hear Adele won 2 Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance! She is truly amazing, and I’m so happy that she has gotten some more recognition for the quality of her music. It’s sooo good.

Well anyway, I better head out and get started with seeing more of Hawaii. I’ll talk to you guys later and let you know how things went this week!

Sorry for having Adele again so soon, but this song rocks and she had a big night last night haha. Brooke White was actually the person who introduced this song to me a while back, and inspired my love for Adele’s stuff haha. Go Brooke!! ALOHA!  It’s David’s first time in the warm and sunny 50th state and he’s already having a blast!

Here he is looking comfy wearing a tshirt and participating in the OHANA DAY pregame festivities that will lead up to tomorrow’s PRO BOWL appearance at the 50,000 seat Aloha Stadium.

HONOLULU (AP) — Spanish pop singer Enrique Iglesias and R&B star Ciara will perform during Sunday’s Pro Bowl halftime show at Aloha Stadium.

The NFL announced Thursday that they will be joined by more than 600 dancers, drummers and acrobats from across the country, as well as 60 high school cheerleaders from throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

Hula dancers from Halau Hula Olana and performers from the dance troupe Ma’ohi Nui will also perform at halftime, and local musician Hoku Zuttermeister will sing Hawaii’s state song, Hawaii Ponoi.

David Archuleta, last year’s American Idol runner-up, will sing the national anthem. He will be joined by football fans and more than 200 military volunteers, and there’ll be a flyover by Hawaii Air National Guard helicopters.

David Archuleta is flying from Florida to Hawaii to open the Pro Bowl , and then it’s back to Florida to open a Disney attraction!  That’s a total of 12,000 air miles in less than 10 days!!!

This time he will be joined by 20 other American Idols and finalists including Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks, David Cook, Bo Bice, Carrie Underwood and Justin Guarini to name a few.

Here’s a sneak peek inside the American Idol Experience which opens to the public on Valentines Day, Feb 14th.  The special celebrity event is set for Feb 12th.  We have the Orlando Sentinel article posted after the video:

FB Fan Email: Roberta’s Meet & Greet with David Archuleta and Jeff

Dear Fanblast,

Today was a great day for me. Not only did I get to see David but i got to hang out with him kinda. I was able to come in Wild 95.5 this morning, it was me and My friend Brittany and Then Heather’s sister and Mother (Heather works at wild 95.5).

When we got there David wasn’t there yet he was running a little late but that was fine for me just as long as he showed up. When he got there he came over and talked with us. And signed our pictures that he brought and that we brought.

He was tried and it was cute. Then they took him into the studio and i didnt think that i would be able to go into the studio but they did let us in. And i got to sit less then 3 feet away during the whole time he was doing the interview.

During one of the breaks They started taking pictures and that was great i took pictures with him and With Jeff. And i talked with Jeff he is such a nice guy it isnt the first time i have been able to talk with Jeff.

Me and Jeff just talked about the family and his other kids. And how i am flying to New york and then Driving to PA to see David for my Birthday and he blown away by that. When it was time to leave Jeff and David walked out with us. And me and David talked about where he was going next, i knew where David was going and he had know idea i told him he was going to do Cookies and milk and a mini concert.

I told me that he hoped that it was going to be Soy milk i told him i would stop and buy him some if he would really like and he no because he had heard to much Soy milk is bad for you it was just cute. I felt bad for him that he didn’t even know what he was doing that day. But that was my great day then we went to the Mini-concert and it was great and he sang great!

And by the way the whole reason David found out that he was live is because my mom was texting me about it and said something about it and it was even funnier the first time.  Thank you.
