Here we go! Choose one:

POSTCARD MAILING (Easiest and most convenient):

Max size standard: 6″ long by 4 1/4″ high = .27 each

Large Postcard (greeting card size) = .42 each

STANDARD LETTER WRITING:

Letter standard 8 1/2″ by 11″ sheets (3 pages or less)

First Class only = .42 each

BULK LETTER:

2 ounces = .59 each

3 ounces = .76 each

3.5 ounces = .93 each (over 3.5 ounces, go to your post office)

PACKAGES AND PARCELS (Birthday gifts, CDs, DVDs, etc.):

Please consider every detail when sending parcels or packages to David. T-shirts over stuffed animals, small items instead of bulky, etc. NO perishables (flowers, food items, or anything that will spoil over time) should be sent through the mail.

ASKING DAVID FOR AN AUTOGRAPHED PHOTO (simple is key):

We suggest that you find your favorite photo of him, find an envelope that it will fit in, flat cardboard to protect it and a larger-sized envelope to hold all of this.

Write out your address on the return envelope that will contain the photo after David signs it along with the correct amount of postage. You might want to visit your local post office so you do this right the first time.

• This way David will open your envelope, read your short letter, sign the photo, slip it back into the self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) you provided and his staff will turn around and mail it back to you.
  

**Be prepared to wait up to 6 months for a reply. This is pretty standard in the fan world.

Timeout for a FAN question:

Do you think I should use a bigger envelope if I’m asking for an autograph? Or a regular one and fold it up? I don’t really want to fold it. Hmmm…

You will need to buy two different-sized envelopes, one bigger than the other.

Cut out a piece of cardboard so you can keep the autograph paper from being folded or torn.

Now the larger envelope should fit everything laid out on the table: the smaller envelope, the fancy paper you want David to sign, and the cardboard to fit.

In your letter to David, make sure you specifically ask for his autograph on the special paper you sent. Do not spray perfume on anything you send out due to allergies. Hey, he might be singing right after he reads your letter!

Back to your envelopes: If you do it right, everything should fit perfectly.

SECURITY:

Understand that anything sealed or contained will be subject to a search or opened by the mailroom and/or security staff. Make sure you include a return address on your package or it will NOT make it past security.

STANDARD FAN MAIL ETIQUETTE:

• Be polite and courteous.

• Keep your letters short and to the point.

• Mention something that you admire about David, his music, appearances, etc.

• Personalize it! Talk about when you met him at the Meet & Greet or about your family, pet, school, etc.

• Ask for exactly what you want: If you are asking for an autograph or if you want to wish him an early birthday!

• Check your spelling and grammar.

Oh, double and triple-check the address you wrote on the envelope before you stamp it. We checked it out ourselves by driving past the building, which is located near Westwood and is close to the UCLA campus.

International Postal Prices and Fees – If available in your home country, the fastest and safest way is through services like FedEx Worldwide or UPS, but either method is pricey.

Check with your local postal center about Express Mail or Priority Mail International.

SECURITY:

Due to international security concerns, sending David a box or package will probably be the most difficult way to reach him. There is a good chance that many people will handle the contents in a box or package before it even gets to David.

Please understand that anything (other than a photo) that is sealed, taped, glued, boxed or contained will be opened by mailroom and/or security staff, going through three or four steps before David even sees it. This may hold your package up for weeks!

Make sure you include a return address on your package or it will not even make it past security. Unless it is absolutely necessary, we suggest that you start with something simple, especially if this is your first time! Keep it down to a letter with a small photo book, CD, keychain, etc.

Bulky items, like a t-shirt, cap or anything that will not fit in a standard-sized envelope may not work out for the best.
